Diploma legalization at NAWA

The issuance of apostilles and certification of higher education documents is carried out by the National Agency for Academic Exchange (NAWA). This institution is responsible for verifying the authenticity of documents issued by universities.

NAWA may also certify original documents, including diplomas, their supplements, and certificates confirming the completion of a master’s degree.

Through NAWA, it is possible to obtain:

  • an apostille for a university diploma;
  • legalization of a diploma supplement;
  • certificates confirming the completion of doctoral studies, postdoctoral qualifications, or the habilitation procedure.

When will you need your diploma legalized?

  • when you want to continue your studies abroad or pursue further education at other universities
  • when you work abroad and need to prove your educational qualifications
  • when you are a foreign national completing your studies in Poland
  • when you are applying for an internship abroad
  • when applying for a work visa to a country where your education must be officially verified, for example a work visa to Saudi Arabia or a visa to the UAE
  • when the document is issued by a foreign university and requires certification by a Consul of the Republic of Poland

Apostille at NAWA

An apostille can only be issued for documents that contain a complete set of required details. In particular, they must include the signature of an authorized person along with their full name and surname (or a stamp containing this information), as well as their official position at the university.

In addition, diplomas or certificates must be signed by their holder. If these requirements are not met, the application will not be accepted and the documents will be returned without processing.
